Le Flux Magnetique by poltergeist Le Flux Magnetique by poltergeist
My entry for the "Inspirations" contest.

I believe the thing that inspires me the most is life itself. The concept of life. What is it that compels us to leave our comfortable nonexistence only to be flung into a world of uncertainty? Is it the anticipation of love? Maybe the pleasures of the flesh? Perhaps the hypnotic rhythm of music? Or simply an irresistible magnetic force that coalesces suns, planets, and human bodies out of stardust?
There are a million different ways to illustrate this phenomenon, but in this instance I chose to use an archetype of my own creation: the serpent, Poltergeist. He is a recurring theme in my artwork; representing my own life force. Here, the dancing mannequins happily follow him into mystery on a path of solar energy. The shadow returning to the sun suggests that all paths eventually lead one back to the light.

You pulled it off perfectly again, damn hard to make any recomendations tho.
I like best the way that its got a meaning behind the picture, like Ragdoll in the background is more than just a background really. Always saw a bit of myself in Poltergeist, mainly as I'm wierd but still, I'm liking the charater.
Best bit, right hand serpent

:giggle: Heehee...seems that I'm thrice blessed, then. ;)
Thank you.
Actually, the brightness/contrast was intentional. I messed with it for a long time because I kept losing little details with the glow; but I really wanted it to be glaring in some parts.

I really hope you win, but regardless, this is a great piece of art. This is something no one but you could have done ( and I mean that as a compliment! ) I also noticed something that I didn't the first time I saw this; all the places that the light touches are very bright, but when it's dark, it's really dark...does that have some significance, too?
Ahh, now this is what art is supposed to do; be expressive and provoke thought and emotion. ^_^

I'm very fond of Poltergeist as inspiration. I was trying to explain what it's like having all these ideas and the drive to create to Mr. Wonderful and he just didn't get it. This illustrates exactly what I was trying to tell him

I'm ecstatic that you feel that way, cuz that's exactly what I was trying to accomplish.
:giggle: I must be making some good progress in this particular field because my husaband complimented me on this one, too. ;)

:-D Thanks a million!
I think my favorite part to stare at is the little patch of space underneath that top snake's body, inside the cape.

Wow...brilliant. I'm particularly fond of the way the tree branch folds around the earth in the background. So very well constructed! :+fav:

Whoops, looks like my "thank you" wasn't a reply. So I'll thank you again. ;) I'm glad you caught the tree branch in there, hon.
